Voukoder export fails when using In/Out points in Media Encoder

  • When exporting with Voukoder in Media Encoder (using any codec), if In/Out points are set, the exported video may have playback problems — such as only audio playing, or the file failing to open at all.

If I export without setting In/Out points, or use the native Adobe encoder, everything works normally.

    Example:
If I export a 10-minute segment from a longer Premiere Pro sequence, and the In point is not at the start of the sequence, the resulting video has incorrect timing and cannot play correctly.

    Hat das Thema freigeschaltet.
    • Voukoder Pro version: [2.0.12.0]
    • FFmpeg version installed: [7.1]
    • I’m using Adobe Media Encoder 2025 (v25.3) with Premiere Pro 2025.

I inspected the exported MP4 using FFmpeg and found that the video and audio streams start at different timestamps, which likely causes the playback issues:
    • Audio stream start time: 0.000s
    • Video stream start time: 2047.345s
    • Actual video duration: ~99s
    • Container (MP4) reports total duration: ~2147s
    • This means the video stream starts much later than the audio stream. Some players (like PotPlayer) are able to compensate, but most players (like VLC or Chrome) fail to play it correctly — either showing a black screen or refusing to open the file.

Hat den Titel des Themas von „Voukoder Pro“ zu „Voukoder export fails when using In/Out points in Media Encoder“ geändert.
  • I have the same issue using the following setup:

In Premiere Pro, I’m exporting a short segment using Source In/Out points instead of the entire sequence, but the output file has mismatched video and audio tracks and incorrect duration as seen in the metadata below. Here are the specific issues:

    • Wrong overall duration: The file’s duration is 4 min 47 s (the full sequence length), but it should match the selected segment length (24 s 619 ms).
    • Video starts at the sequence beginning, not at Source In: The output starts from frame zero of the sequence, so there’s black video from the sequence start until the Source In point.
    • Video ends correctly at Source Out.
    • Video track Duration is wrong, but its Source duration is correct: The video track’s Duration metadata shows 4 min 47 s (the full sequence), while its Source duration metadata correctly shows 24 s 633 ms — meaning the video stream contains the entire sequence, not just the selected portion.
    • Audio track has the correct Duration and Source duration: Both Duration and Source duration fields for the audio are correct (24 s 619 ms).
    • Audio is placed at the beginning of the output file: The audio starts at time 0 instead of being aligned with the Source In point, so it’s completely out of sync with the intended video segment.

    I've also attached my scene.

    • Offizieller Beitrag

I tried work on this just now, but i can't repoduce the issue anymore. I'm a bit confused. I also noticed the code didn't change much in the recent years.

    • I created a new project with the "universial counting leader"
    • I selected only the frames showing the "7 seconds" remaining
    • Selected "Source in / Source out" for range
    • I got a perfect export of only this section

I used Adobe Premiere Pro CC 26.0.2 for this test and I'm still using the SDK for Premiere Pro 22.

If you can provide more details how to reproduce this issue it'd be helpful.

  • Thanks for the quick response, and sorry for my late reply. I've just enabled email notification for new reply.

I've just tried the universal counting leader, and I encountered the issue.

I've attached my project file and the exported MP4 file here Universal Counting Leader.zip.

I've attached Voukoder Pro log here 2026-05-21_00-43-26.zip.

Voukoder Pro Scene is still the same as in my previous post x264 CPU.zip

Here's the SystemCompatibilityReport.txt generated by Premiere Pro.

I'm a bit relieved that you also encountered the issue although only once: it means it's not a unique case for only my PC. However, I cannot be sure if the issue is because of Premiere Pro itself instead of Voukoder Pro.

  • Yes, I've seen exactly the same when I've tried it the first time.

I opened your project file and exported exactly the region you've had selected, and it worked.

Strange. What exact version of premiere are you using?

    Version 26.2.0 (Build 65)

Previously I used the same Version 26.2.0 (Build 65) with the old Voukoder 13.x to export 10 in/out segments and I have never encountered such issue. I also used Voukoder 13.x with earlier versions of Premiere Pro to export dozens of in/out segments without issue.

In hindsight, maybe future Voukoder Pro can also include the NLE software and version in the log file.
