Voukoder Pro v2.0.10 with Vegas Pro v22

  • I am a new user of Voukoder and I'm not able to get it to show up as a render option in Vegas Pro v22.

    OS is Windows 11 pro.
I installed FFMPEG v7.1.1 and Voukoder Pro v2.0.10

I followed the directions at https://www.voukoder.org/documentation/#3
I got my 14-day trial license, ran Voukoder Pro and installed the license. Saved a scene. Ran Vegas Pro, but there is no Voukoder in the list of options:

I find this part of the instructions to be a bit confusing:
"VEGAS Pro requires to open any modify a template first."
Probably should be "and modify", but I'm still not sure exactly what I'm supposed to do.
    Am I missing a step?

I have done quite a bit of searching to try to figure out this issue before posting on the forum.
Looking at "C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 22.0" I see the file "VoukoderProVEGAS22-x64.fio2007-config" so I assume that means that the "connector" was installed properly.

It's quite difficult to find this issue. My guess is it doesn't load because an old Voukoder (Non-Pro) component has been installed earlier, although I developed it in a way so this couldn't happen. But I can't attach a debugger to it to debug my plugin running in VEGAS Pro. The VEGAS Pro developers are protecting it against debuggers so I can't step through my plugin. This means basically they either give me help and / or the possibility to debug my plugin or I have to stop supporting VEGAS Pro. Sigh ...

  • I'm pretty sure this is the first time I have tried installing any Voukoder product, even Non-Pro. However, here is some additional information that may be helpful and could be the source of the problem.

I thought that I already had FFMPEG installed on my computer because I frequently run it from the command line. However, when I installed Voukoder Pro and ran Vegas Pro for the first time, I got an error message saying "you must first install FFMPEG before you can run Voukoder." So it was only at that point that I installed FFMPEG v7.1.1.

When Voukoder didn't show up as a Vegas render option, I of course tried "repair", "uninstall" and re-install for Voukoder.

So, could my clumsy installation have gotten the Voukoder/Vegas plug-in startup process in a bad state?

That's strange. If it was ...

    • indeed your first installation,
    • you selected the correct VEGAS directory in the Voukoder Pro installer
    • you followed all the installation steps exactly
    • you did install one of my provided MSI installers
    • and the Designer.exe app starts up correctly

... maybe you can check this:

In VEGAS Pro go the Help > About and click on the Components tab. Does Voukoder Pro appear here?

  • Yes. The plugin is in the list:

Also, there's no evidence that Voukoder was installed on any of my previous versions of Vegas. So, like I said, I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've tried any Voukoder product, pro or non-pro.

And the installer I used was: VoukoderPro-2.0.10.msi

If you'd like me to try installing some older version of Voukoder to see what happens, I'd be happy to do that, but I didn't see a "previous versions" section on your website.

  • Okay. Thank you, but there is one other thing. Recall that I mentioned that I found this line in the Voukoder installation instructions to be a bit confusing:

"VEGAS Pro requires to open and modify a template first."

Please explain what you mean by this.

  • In addition to Vegas Pro v22, I also have v20 installed on my PC. I uninstalled Voukuder and reinstalled it for Vegas Pro v20, and it worked:

I was able to successfully render a *.mov file. So, it looks like this issue is specific to Vegas Pro v22. FYI, I am running the most current release of Vegas:
