Please help get me started

  • Absolutely new to Voukoder, Currently using Vegas 22 and am hoping to get Voukoder to speed up my renders.

Everything is installed but settings are eluding me. Is there a Voukoder for dummies book out there? Ive seen screenshots of Voukoder settings but it appears they are older versions as the only interface I can find is in the Designer app and I am having difficulty using it. Please give me a nudge in the right direction. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hat das Thema freigeschaltet.
  • I just installed the Voukoder Pro 2.0.10.0 and got it working with Vegas Pro 22 on Windows 11. I watched a few videos on how to render with this encoder and how to set it up, but all of them are for the classic version which is now defunct.

Trying to reproduce optimized settings presented in older guides is not exactly straight forward as many technical names are changed and grouped differently.

Is there a way to add an option in the new Pro version for the classic menu that many people liked and invested time and effort to explain to others in detail? I'm asking this as it would be a feature that would improve usability for new and intermediate users and may also increase sales of licenses.

Personally I'm considering purchasing a perpetual license for personal use, but I'm having second thoughts due to the extreme complexity of setting up all the properties in the scene mode, where everything use to be so simple and straight forward with the classic version.

  • It would be helpful to use the descriptive term for each encoder parameter (High, Low, Auto), rather than just the numerical setting (2, 1, -1). Makes setting up an encoder very tedious and difficult. Most people encountering this for the first time would probably move on to something easier to use.

The descriptive information is right there in the ffmpeg command line help, so why can't this info be used in the Designer app menus? Having to pull up the ffmpeg help on one screen so I can cross-reference Designer settings on the other screen is a royal PITA, and not at all user friendly. I had many presets, but now I can't even tell what settings I used without pulling up the ffmpeg help screen. All the setting values have been converted to anonymous numbers.

    [EDIT: My bad, see below.]

  • Figured it out. I had the "technical names" box checked in Designer settings (Tools -> Preferences -> Settings). Apparently selecting "technical names" removes all names, technical and otherwise.

Unchecked the box, and now the encoder settings have the conventional names, with some exceptions like "G" and "Bf".

Is the "technical names" setting on by default? If so, it really shouldn't be. I might have changed it myself, and forgot about it . . .
