Designer QOL features

  • After begrudgingly upgrading to Pro well after the end of life notice, the Designer grid has been bothering me.

I immediately noticed the lack of a 'snap to grid' option and the ability to zoom in & out. These would be really nice to have.

When opening Designer, it opens history (which is fine) but also creates a new generic scene. This would be fine on first launch, but doing it every time I open the program tripped me up the first few times. I've now developed muscle memory to close it. I wouldn't mind if it just opened on a blank screen (after first launch, of course)

I'll check the snap to grid option. I intentionally disabled the zoom in/out option.

You can change the "open on startup" options in the designer preferences.

The solution is already there. Go to Preferences -> General -> Startup and change Open Scene from Blank to None (keep Re-open last open tabs marked).

EDIT: Speaking of QoL Designer features, I'd really welcome an option to copy/paste a node. Very useful to keep a copy of the original settings for experimentation without creating another scene. If that's ever implemented, probably a right-click Rename Node context menu would be useful as well; so you, for example, can have a Video Encoder node called Original Settings next to a node Called TESTS or something, and can quickly switch between the two to compare file sizes and whatnot.
