A license key for testing purposes: that was the void in my understanding.
I have obtained and inserted a demo license key and now it performs fine.
Thanks!

I downloaded Voukoder Pro on October 27, so that cannot be the reason.
No! Usually a demo version takes you all the way to the output product for a proper trial, isn't it, be it with a watermark in the video or similar.
I may freeze if I see the way to attach a file. But here is a copy/paste of the log file produced with Vegas:
2025-10-29 14:10:09 (error) [VoukoderPro.cpp:129] Please license this product!
2025-10-29 14:10:09 (info) [VoukoderPro.cpp:484] Unable to start Voukoder Pro:
And this is from the Resolve try:
2025-10-29 15:53:57 (error) [VoukoderPro.cpp:129] Please license this product!
That's all there is.
Joe24, my GPU is NVIDIA indeed but I do not use interlaced video.
Vouk, I'd like to submit 2 log files: from Vegas and from Resolve. Yes, I have created a scene first, I made a screenshot. My problem is that I do not see how I can insert the files in this message. The menu above does not have this option.![]()
I also did the performance test in the Designer, and although it reported that 60 frames (my choice) had been exported, there was no exported file shown in the specified directory.
After always successfully using the old Voukoder in Vegas Pro 22 on Windows 11 I have now installed FFmpeg (GPL) 7.1 and Voukoder Pro 2.0.14, as far as I can see in accordance with everything that has been said in this and other threads. Both Voukoder and Voukoder Pro appear in the 'Render As' menu of Vegas 22. I can open the Custom Settings window of Voukoder Pro, open the scene designer and edit it. Pressing the Render button opens the small usual Vegas Rendering progress window but rendering does not start. As the Cancel button only removes this progress window but does not end the non-functioning render process, preventing to continue with Vegas Pro, I have to abort the render process with help of the Windows Task Manager.
Then I have tried the plugin in DaVinci Resolve Studio 20.2 (again, the old Voukoder plugin never gave a problem in Resolve). The plugin is available and ready to use, apparently. Here, rendering also fails. The error message from Resolve is: 'Codec is not opened yet'.
Does this have a solution?
I confirm that the rendering of Voukoder is correct. The cause for hearing stereo in stead of 5.1 yesterday was probably my own mistake, viz incorrect configuration of the sound card. I disabled the So4compoundplug plug-in and indeed VP17 assigns the audio channels correctly now. So everything seems to work fine.
But MediaInfo (17.12) keeps reporting 2 audio channels, while it reports 6 channels when encoding with Sony AVC/MVC. Attached is the complete report, notice the red lines:

Interestingly, when I place the rendered clip back on the timeline of Vegas Pro, I do get 6 audio tracks under the video track, playing the 6 distinct surround channels. There seems to occur some mixing somewhere.
I just tested Connector 1.1.0 on Vegas Pro 17.0. The audio of the 5.1 surround project is encoded as 2-channel stereo, all 6 channels are mixed in the stereo channel. MediaInfo reports "Channel(s): 2 channels" but also does report another line with "Channel(s)_Original: 6 channels" and the next line "Channel positions: Front: L C R, Side: L R,LFE". So there is still hope ...
