Voukoder settings for GoPro 8 4K 60fps HEVC

  • Hello.

Firstly, I thank the author and the community for this development that makes this world a better place!

    Now to the question.

I shoot on camera GoPro 8 4K 60fps in HEVC and want to ask for advice on which settings to use for the final export are better.

    1) 264 (AMD AMF) against HEVC (265 (AMD AMF)).

    2) What advanced settings should be used for maximum quality.

    3) When I encode a video in HEVC (265 (AMD AMF)) when playing Windows 10 on any player (including VLC), while rewinding, there is a long (about 7-10 seconds) freeze while the video card (Radeon 590+) is 100% occupied. I tried different settings HEVC (265 (AMD AMF)) and every time everything is the same - freezes.

In 264 (AMD AMF) there are no such problems, rewinding does not freeze. My processor is AMD Ryzen 1700 (8 cores and 16 threads over 3 GHz) and all drives are ssd.

What do you think? Thanks in advance!

  • the quality of each frame depends on the bitrate, so I'll say.

    x264: --level 5.1 --crf 16 --threads 0 --deblock 1:0 --bframes 16 --b-adapt 2 --ref 16 --qpmax 60 --rc-lookahead 60 --aq-mode 2 --aq-strength 0.7 --merange 32 --me umh --direct auto --subme 10 --trellis 2 --no-fast-pskip.

Thank you and what you say about HEVC (265 (AMD AMF)), why not him? After all, the camera shoots in this mode.
